Gill: Democrats Are Selling Out America with Socialist Agenda Ahead of Midterms Stella Green, June 25, 2026 By Jim Thomas | Thursday, 25 June 2026 09:37 PM EDT Rep. Brandon Gill, R-Texas, said on Thursday that Democrats have handed their party to its socialist wing and will pay for it in the midterms. He also argued that voters outside New York and California are rejecting that message. On a cable news program, Gill stated that the party of Franklin D. Roosevelt is gone. “This is the party of Zohran Mamdani and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez,” he said, referring to New York City’s democratic socialist mayor and progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. “This is the party that runs on a platform of hating America, hating the institutions that built this country, and having disdain for its own people and its principles,” Gill added. He claimed that when Democrats try to “run on a national stage in areas that are not New York or liberal California,” they will lose, and Republicans will win. The remarks followed three candidates backed by Mamdani — two of whom are members of the Democratic Socialists of America — sweeping New York congressional primaries, ousting Reps. Dan Goldman and Adriano Espaillat and winning the open seventh district seat. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., attempted to unify his party Wednesday on a similar program. “I think for us as House Democrats, we’re just hopeful that everybody recognizes once we get through this primary season that the enemy is President Donald Trump and MAGA extremism,” Jeffries said. Gill dismissed Jeffries’s characterization. “Neither one of those are winning messages,” he said. “What the American people want is sanity in their government. They want a government that’s actually looking out for them, not looking out for foreigners. Who cares about the quality of life for the American people, not about radical woke ideas they want to shove down the American people’s throat.” Gill stated that the contrast heading into the midterms is “incredibly clear.” He said Democrats are “running candidates in New York who are talking about eradicating Western civilization,” while Republicans under Trump are “working to make life better for the American people, to keep our borders secure, to deport illegal aliens, to make our community safer, to bring down the cost of living.” Gill argued the motive is structural. “Their goal is not to look out for the American people,” he said. “It’s to totally transform the American way of life and totally upend America’s social system. And they believe that socialistic policies are the way to do that.” He called it “the arm into private life of every American person” and the means by which “Democrats who they believe they’ll be in control can have control over the American people.” “Voters time and time again, cycle after cycle, have rejected” it, Gill said.
