Far-Left Threat Looms as New York Primaries Signal Socialism’s Growing Influence

Rep. Roger Williams, R-Texas, warned today that Americans must “get serious” after Marxist Democrats secured key victories in New York’s primary elections, which he described as evidence of a dangerous shift toward far-left politics.

“What we saw in New York is a total disaster with socialism and Marxism at the front,” Williams stated. “And what these people stand for — not even what some of my Democratic friends stand for.”

The remarks followed recent wins by candidates endorsed by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a democratic socialist, in New York’s congressional primaries this week. Former New York City Comptroller Brad Lander defeated Rep. Dan Goldman, D-N.Y., in the 10th Congressional District, while democratic socialist Darializa Avila Chevalier unseated Rep. Adriano Espaillat, D-N.Y., chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, in the 13th Congressional District.

Williams praised House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., for his warnings about socialism and Marxism, adding: “I thought Speaker Johnson said it right — people got to get serious about this.”

When asked whether the United States is losing control of its communities, Williams emphasized that Americans must become more engaged and defend the nation’s founding principles. “We lose control of our communities if people don’t get involved,” he explained. “I see a lot of areas around the country that have turned into communities we never thought we’d see before — with Sharia law and ignoring the Constitution. But that’s because we let people do that.”

Williams stressed the need to uphold constitutional principles: “We are a land of laws. We got to adhere to the Constitution. We’ve got to stand up when we need to be heard. And if we don’t, we could very well lose our country.”

In closing, Williams urged Americans to reject what he called socialist and Marxist ideologies: “We’ve got to get it right. We’ve got to keep America where it is: a law-abiding country where people can realize their dream and not a scheme.”
