South Park Rebrands as ‘SOUTH AMERICA’ in Sharp Political Jab at Trump Ella Thomas, September 8, 2026 South Park co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone announced on Tuesday they are changing the animated comedy’s name to “SOUTH AMERICA,” the latest political jab at President Donald Trump. The move comes ahead of the show’s 29th season premiere on September 16. Parker and Stone described the change as being “inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google” while also thanking their parent company Paramount and Skydance Capitulation. This follows President Trump’s executive orders renaming geographic landmarks, including Lake Ontario to “Lake America” and the Gulf of Mexico to “Gulf of America.” Both Apple and Google have updated their mapping services accordingly. Parker and Stone have a history of targeting Trump in South Park episodes. In July 2025, they opened their 27th season with an episode depicting Trump in bed with Satan and later included a deepfake sequence showing him walking naked through a desert—though the creators clarified that it combined live-action body doubles with digital technology rather than being entirely AI-generated. The announcement also references Paramount’s $8 billion merger with Skydance, which was approved after Paramount paid $16 million to settle Trump’s lawsuit over a CBS “60 Minutes” interview. South Park previously satirized both the settlement and the companies’ dealings with Trump in earlier seasons. Some viewers have noted that the show has drifted so far from its original premise of four middle-school boys engaging in mischief that it no longer provides humor but functions as a political vehicle for the creators.
