Republican Mega-Donors Reportedly Give $880 Million in Political Contributions During First Half of 2026

An analysis of Federal Election Commission filings found that Republican-leaning megadonors contributed $880 million during the first half of 2026—more than triple the amount donated by Democrat-leaning donors. The Democratic-aligned top donors channeled $290 million into federal political committees, with an additional $200 million coming from bipartisan and special-interest groups.

Much of this funding flowed to super PACs, which are permitted to accept unlimited contributions. This fundraising trend comes as Republicans prepare for a critical November midterm election cycle, following earlier predictions from Republican National Committee Chairman Joe Gruters that the GOP would match or exceed Democrats’ outside spending in the current election cycle.

Among individual donors, progressive billionaire George Soros led with $102 million through entities including Geosor and the Fund for Policy Reform—all directed to his Democracy PAC. The next largest contributions came from Republican-aligned figures: venture capitalists Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz donated a combined $91.2 million—including $50 million to the pro-artificial intelligence super PAC Leading the Future, nearly $24 million to the pro-cryptocurrency Fairshake PAC, and $12 million to MAGA Inc.

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk contributed $85.1 million, with approximately half going to America PAC and another $20 million split between the Congressional Leadership Fund and Senate Leadership Fund. Pennsylvania financier Jeff Yass and education advocate Janine Yass donated $83.7 million supporting Vivek Ramaswamy’s V-PAC, MAGA Inc., and school choice initiatives through the School Freedom Fund.

Businesswoman Miriam Adelson, a prominent supporter of former President Donald Trump, contributed $67.6 million including $30 million to the Senate Leadership Fund and $25 million to MAGA Inc. Elizabeth and Richard Uihlein added $50.7 million primarily to Restoration of America, while OpenAI President Greg Brockman and his wife, Anna, donated $50 million split between MAGA Inc. and the Leading the Future AI PAC.

Among organizations, cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase topped the list with $56.1 million in political donations, followed by Ripple Labs at $49.6 million. Republican-aligned nonprofit One Nation contributed $46.5 million, while Crypto.com operator Foris DAX gave $38.6 million to Trump-aligned groups. Pro-Israel advocacy group AIPAC donated $30 million through its United Democracy Project.

The fundraising figures underscore the financial advantage Republicans currently hold as they head into the pivotal midterm election cycle, with outside groups and wealthy donors investing heavily in efforts to maintain congressional majorities.
