Georgia Senate Race Tightens as Ossoff Leads Collins by Double Digits in Critical Poll

A new poll released ahead of Georgia’s general election has found Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.) holding a double-digit lead over Republican Rep. Mike Collins, giving the first-term Democrat an early advantage after Republicans concluded their contentious primary contest.

The survey shows Ossoff leading Collins 56% to 43% among registered voters. This margin follows Collins’ victory in a GOP runoff against Derek Dooley—supported by Gov. Brian Kemp—by 11 points.

Polling analyst Daron Shaw predicted the race could tighten, noting that Collins must convince Republicans and independents his partnership with President Trump will deliver affordability for rank-and-file Georgians.

Collins has positioned the Senate race as a choice between “self-made” and “silver spoon,” repeatedly criticizing Ossoff’s vote against Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill and opposition to Working Families Tax Cuts. He stated: “Jon Ossoff voted for one of the largest spending bills in American history, helping drive up the cost of gas, groceries, and housing.”

Ossoff has countered by highlighting his efforts to lower insulin costs and housing expenses. At a recent campaign rally, he accused Collins and Trump of neglecting working people: “While hundreds of thousands of Georgians lose their health care, Mike Collins builds Trump a ballroom.” He added that the Republican ticket “worked harder burying the Epstein files than they ever worked to lower your grocery bill.”

The poll indicates Ossoff’s strongest support among Black voters, younger voters, young women, independents, and moderates. Collins draws backing from evangelical Christians, rural voters, veterans, gun owners, and men without college degrees.

Ossoff enters the general election with a significant fundraising advantage, reporting over $32.5 million in cash on hand during the 2026 cycle.
