Unbelievable Wedding Surprise: Ed Sheeran and Martin Garrix Crash Adler Planetarium Reception

A routine social media message escalated into an extraordinary wedding surprise at the Adler Planetarium when music superstars Ed Sheeran and Martin Garrix crashed a local couple’s reception.

The unexpected appearance, triggered by a simple direct message from the bride’s brother, left guests and the newlyweds stunned during their weekend celebration. Though the performers were known to be in town that weekend, the family never anticipated a response.

The artists later documented the exchange online. “He’s got a DM from someone saying, ‘Can you crash my sister’s wedding?’ So, we’re going there,” Sheeran said in a post shared on social media.

When the singer-songwriter and DJ entered the Adler Planetarium, the reception shifted into total disbelief. Wedding videographer Lawrence Trantham witnessed the chaotic reaction firsthand. “You could almost like — the bride was about to pass out, that’s how shocked she was seeing Ed Sheeran,” Trantham said. “Everyone was almost basically bouncing off the walls, jumping up and down, like some people were completely shell-shocked, mouth agape, eyes wide open.”

For newlyweds Tessa Kindelin and Brendan Harty, the entrance was entirely unexpected. “The crowd erupted,” Kindelin said, describing the moment. “I knew Mike had been talking to Martin Garrix, but I had no idea Ed Sheeran was coming with them too.”

“So I came up from the crowd and I heard their song playing,” she added. “Then I saw Ed, and I was like, ‘Oh my God!’ I can’t believe they both came. It was unbelievable.”

The unexpected concert held significance for the groom’s family. “My sisters are huge Ed Sheeran fans. They’ve been going to concerts for over a decade,” Harty said. “So they got the best of both worlds. All the families were just so elated.”

The artists performed for the room, creating an unforgettable memory for the couple. “I mean, I got to dance with my wife, and Ed Sheeran sang perfect to us,” Harty said. “How could it get any better?”

Kindelin joked that her brother’s successful intervention has secured him lifelong gratitude, meaning he is now exempt from giving her gifts for the rest of her life.

Reflecting on the footage later, she noted the surprise still feels unreal: “It was amazing. I’ve watched that video multiple angles from all my friends, and I still can’t believe that happened.”
