Zelda Williams Condemns AI-Generated Videos of Late Father: “Stop Resurrecting Him for Clicks”

Ella Thomas, October 7, 2025

Zelda Williams, daughter of the late actor and comedian Robin Williams, has demanded an end to the proliferation of AI-generated videos featuring her father, labeling the content “dumb” and a “waste of time.” In a series of Instagram posts, she criticized the trend of using artificial intelligence to recreate deceased celebrities, which has gained traction on platforms like TikTok and Instagram.

“I beg you, stop sending me AI videos of Dad. Stop believing I want to see them or that I’ll understand—I don’t and I won’t,” Williams wrote. “If you’re trying to troll me, I’ve seen worse; I’ll restrict and move on. But please, if you have any decency, stop doing this to him and to me, to everyone, full stop.”

She condemned the practice as “gross” and “maddening,” arguing that it reduces the lives of real people to exploitative digital copies designed for fleeting online engagement. “You’re not making art—you’re creating disgusting, over-processed hotdogs out of human beings’ legacies, shoving them down others’ throats for likes,” she wrote.

Williams also urged creators to stop framing AI as innovation. “For the love of everything, stop calling it ‘the future.’ AI is just recycling and regurgitating the past to be reconsumed,” she said.

Robin Williams, who died by suicide in 2014 at age 63, was later revealed to have suffered from Lewy body dementia, a progressive neurological condition linked to depression and cognitive decline. His son, Zak Williams, previously discussed their father’s mental health struggles during a 2020 appearance on “The Dr. Oz Show,” highlighting his efforts to prioritize well-being despite challenges.

Zelda Williams’ posts have sparked conversations about the ethical boundaries of AI in preserving celebrity legacies.
