White House Tackles ‘Fake News’ with New Media Bias Reporting Portal

Stella Green, December 2, 2025

The White House is launching a new initiative aimed at combating what Deputy Communications Director Kaelan Dorr describes as unchecked misinformation in legacy media outlets. Speaking to Newsmax’s “Rob Schmitt Tonight,” Dorr emphasized that this effort has been a priority from the administration’s inception.

“The administration launched a new media-bias reporting portal to let Americans flag ‘fake news,’ saying it will expose misinformation he argues went unchecked under former President Joe Biden,” Dorr stated. He added, “the initiative… reflects what he described as the administration’s aggressive posture toward legacy media outlets.”

Dorr pointed out that during the Biden administration and allied institutions operated “in broad daylight” while misrepresenting events to the public. According to him, major news organizations tried to “gaslight you into thinking what was happening in front of your very eyes wasn’t real.” The portal allows users to submit alleged bias by texting BIAS to 45470, making the flagged material publicly available on the White House website.

“The effort is designed to give Americans ‘another resource’ at a time when ‘there’s a lot of fake news out there,’” Dorr said. He also stressed that this portal ensures “the marketplace of ideas continues to thrive.” The move comes as part of what he perceives as a contrast between the media’s approach to President Donald Trump and former President Biden, particularly regarding health-related coverage.

Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary, echoed similar sentiments during a Monday briefing. She stated that the administration is compiling a database of disputed reports exposing “fake news in real time.”

Public participation remains central to this effort, as argued by Dorr. He believes Americans are “hungry for real information” and deserve transparent communication from their government.

This initiative aligns with what White House officials assert regarding press coverage under different leaderships.
