White House Security Response to Iran Strikes Intensifies Stella Green, March 1, 2026 By Sandy Fitzgerald | Sunday, 01 March 2026 09:04 AM EST The U.S. Secret Service has heightened security at the White House, President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, and other protected locations nationwide following U.S. strikes in Iran. In a statement Saturday afternoon, the U.S. Secret Service said it is actively monitoring the situation in Iran and remains in close coordination with federal and local partners. “The agency’s protective model is designed to be adaptable to meet current security needs and ensure the continued safety of its protectees, protected sites, and surrounding communities,” the statement added. “Increased federal and law enforcement presence will be observed near all U.S. Secret Service-protected locations.” The heightened security measures now encompass locations including President Trump’s White House, Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, the homes of all former U.S. presidents, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation headquarters. A recent incident at Mar-a-Lago underscored the heightened security: an armed man wielding a shotgun and gasoline canister was shot by two U.S. Secret Service agents and a deputy sheriff after entering the estate’s inner perimeter. President Trump and Vice President JD Vance operated from locations hundreds of miles apart when they coordinated the Saturday airstrikes in Iran. Trump, accompanied by his national security team, directed the strike operations from Mar-a-Lago during the weekend. General Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was present. Vance, meanwhile, coordinated via a conference call from the White House Situation Room with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Energy Secretary Chris Wright, and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.
