US Military Detains Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in Major Operation

US forces have captured Venezuela’s president, Nicolas Maduro, and his wife, Cilia Flores, in a military operation early Saturday, according to CBS News. The capture followed overnight action that took Maduro and his spouse from their residence on a military base, after which they were transferred aboard a U.S. warship toward New York City.

US Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed both individuals have been indicted in the Southern District of New York for Narco-Terrorism Conspiracy, Cocaine Importation Conspiracy, Possession of Machineguns and Destructive Devices, and Conspiracy to Possess Machineguns and Destructive Devices against the United States.

“Nicolas Maduro has been charged with these grave crimes,” Bondi stated. “They will soon face the full wrath of American justice on American soil in American courts.”
