Trump’s Historic State of the Union Address Omitted From Leading U.S. Daily Front Page

Stella Green, February 25, 2026

A leading U.S. daily newspaper’s front page on Wednesday contained no coverage of President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address.

Despite its claim to publish “All the News That’s Fit to Print,” the paper used its primary front-page space for a story titled “Reliance on Taiwan Chip Endangers U.S. Economy.”

The front page also featured a large photograph of a Ukrainian soldier in support of an article about the war against Russia, and a story regarding Mexico following the death of cartel leader Nemesio Ruben Oseguera Cervantes, known as “El Mencho.” A smaller sub-headline for the Mexico story included “Trump,” the only direct reference to the president who had addressed Congress hours earlier.

Additional stories on the front page carried headlines including: “Epstein Sought Customs Perks For Private Isle” (a report on Jeffrey Epstein), “They’re for ICE, But Go NIMBY on Warehouses,” and “A.I. Literacy Test: Don’t Let It Think for You.”

Eleven other stories were listed at the bottom of the page — none related to Trump.

The omission contrasted sharply with Trump’s more than one-hour Tuesday night address, which outlined his administration’s agenda across border security, economic growth, energy dominance, and America’s role on the world stage.

During his speech, Trump touted claimed historic reductions in illegal crossings since he returned to office. He also renewed calls for tougher immigration laws and increased funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), drawing repeated applause from Republicans. On the economy, Trump pointed to rising wages, easing inflation, and a surging stock market as evidence that his policies were delivering results. He credited tax cuts, deregulation, and expanded domestic energy production with boosting business investment and strengthening the dollar.

The president also highlighted foreign policy priorities, including continued support for Israel, efforts to broker peace in Ukraine, and a broader strategy of “peace through strength” to counter adversaries such as China and Iran.

While major broadcast networks and cable news outlets led coverage of the address and critics quickly fact-checked portions of it, the newspaper’s decision not to prominently feature the speech drew scrutiny from conservatives on social media. Supporters argued that omitting the State of the Union reflected broader media bias against Trump and his agenda. Critics countered that print front pages typically prioritize enterprise reporting and global developments over speeches that are widely covered online.
