Trump Calls Stephen Colbert “Pathetic Trainwreck,” Demands CBS “Put Him to Sleep”

President Donald Trump launched a sharp critique of late-night host Stephen Colbert on Wednesday, branding him a “pathetic trainwreck” with no talent and labeling him a “dead man walking.” In an early post on his Truth Social platform, Trump urged CBS to “put him to sleep,” calling it the “humanitarian thing to do.”

The remarks followed CBS’s decision to air a rerun of Colbert’s December 8 episode, which had mocked Trump for hosting the Kennedy Center Honors ceremony. During that segment, Colbert noted, “This year’s Kennedy Center Honors ceremony is the very first since Trump installed himself as chair of the Kennedy Center’s board” and added, “It seems like the commander-in-chief shouldn’t have enough time to run a theater.”

Colbert also quipped in his monologue: “Mr. President, Mr. President, Russia has just launched another round of missiles. But first, dress rehearsal for ‘Oklahoma’ is underway, and the blocking is uninspired.”

Trump’s comments came after he demanded that broadcast licenses be “terminated” for networks he claims are “almost 100% Negative to President Donald J. Trump, MAGA, and the Republican Party.” He also questioned which late-night host was worst, stating, “Who has the worst Late Night host, CBS, ABC, or NBC??? They all have three things in common: High Salaries, No Talent, REALLY LOW RATINGS!”

Additionally, Trump criticized ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel and NBC’s Seth Meyers after they ridiculed him and Republicans on their programs.
