Trump Administration Prepares Nationwide Crackdown on Healthcare Fraud Scams

Stella Green, December 11, 2025

Dr. Mehmet Oz reported Thursday that the Trump administration is preparing a sweeping crackdown on what officials now describe as an unprecedented wave of healthcare fraud targeting Medicare and Medicaid programs nationwide.

According to Oz, senior administration officials have been meeting regularly and will convene again on Monday for a press conference to update the public on the shocking fraud scandal unfolding in Minnesota and to outline a broader strategy to confront criminal networks exploiting the nation’s healthcare system.

Oz noted that even longtime officials within the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services—individuals who have witnessed virtually every type of criminal scheme—were stunned by the sophistication and scale of the Minnesota case. He emphasized that Minnesota is only one example in a nationwide pattern of fraud, stating: “Although the Minnesota case is unforgettable and has been shocking,” he said, “we have five times more durable medical equipment suppliers, people who sell wheelchairs and canes, than McDonald’s in South Florida.”

Oz also suggested international involvement, adding that “We think the Cuban government might be involved if the Miami mayor is correct.” He further highlighted Armenian criminal organizations operating in Southern California that run massive scams in hospice care and home healthcare. Additionally, Oz detailed a Russian multinational criminal organization accused of attempting to steal $15 billion from the American healthcare system: “We had a large Russian multinational criminal organization that we busted—$15 billion of effort they were making to steal money,” he said. “And those folks all fled to Russia.”

Oz warned that the government faces significant challenges in stopping foreign criminal organizations targeting Medicare and Medicaid, noting that “our most vulnerable people are at risk.”
