South Korea’s Spy Agency Predicts High Chance of U.S.-North Korea Summit Amid Upcoming Drills

South Korea’s National Intelligence Service (NIS) has indicated a high likelihood of a potential summit between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and the United States following joint military exercises scheduled for March next year, according to reports.

Lawmaker Lee Seong-kweun stated during a parliamentary audit on the NIS that Kim Jong Un is open to dialogue with the U.S. but emphasized that such talks would depend on favorable conditions. The statement came after Kim expressed willingness to engage in discussions if Washington abandoned demands for denuclearization, though he did not respond publicly when U.S. President Donald Trump proposed talks during his recent visit to South Korea.
