Rubio Hails Chilean Conservative Victory in Landslide Election

On Sunday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio praised conservative presidential candidate Jose Antonio Kast’s landslide victory in Chile’s election.

In a statement released on the same day, Rubio wrote: “The United States congratulates President-Elect Jose Antonio Kast of Chile on his electoral victory.”

Rubio expressed confidence that under Kast’s leadership, Chile would advance shared priorities including strengthening public security, ending illegal immigration, and revitalizing our commercial relationship.

“The United States looks forward to working closely with his administration to deepen our partnership and promote shared prosperity in our hemisphere,” Rubio added.
