A recent poll released Tuesday reveals that 43 percent of registered U.S. voters support President Donald Trump’s military action targeting Venezuelan strongman Nicolas Maduro, while 36 percent oppose the intervention. The survey, conducted by J.L. Partners with a sample of 999 registered voters between January 5 and 6, found that 54 percent of respondents viewed the operation as successful, compared to 15 percent who called it a failure and 31 percent who were undecided.

Among Republican voters, 78 percent backed Trump’s actions versus 8 percent who opposed them. Democrats showed significantly less support, with only 17 percent endorsing the military intervention and 57 percent expressing opposition. Independent voters split nearly evenly, with 39 percent in favor of Trump’s decision to capture Maduro and 38 percent against it.

The poll also highlighted growing concerns over Trump’s statement that the United States would be “running” Venezuela for the immediate future. Of Democratic respondents, 85 percent expressed worry about this comment, while only 7 percent reported little concern. Among Republicans, 52 percent indicated minimal apprehension about the remark, though 40 percent voiced some reservations regarding Trump’s decision to involve the U.S. in managing Venezuela.

The survey carries a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.
