Mickey Rourke Launches $67,517 Emergency Fund to Avoid Los Angeles Eviction

Mickey Rourke, 73, has launched an emergency fundraising campaign on GoFundMe to avoid eviction from his Los Angeles home following a lawsuit over more than $59,000 in unpaid rent. The actor’s landlord served him with a three-day notice in late December requiring either payment of the outstanding balance or vacating the property, prompting the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior court.

Liya-Joelle Jones, Rourke’s friend and member of his management team, created the GoFundMe page with the actor’s “full permission” to cover immediate housing expenses and halt the eviction proceedings. As of Monday morning, the campaign had raised $67,517.

Jones told The Hollywood Reporter on Sunday that Rourke is currently navigating a “very difficult time,” emphasizing the emotional impact of public support. She noted that the fundraiser was designed to provide stability and peace of mind during this stressful period.

The campaign description states: “Mickey Rourke is currently facing a very difficult and urgent situation: he is at risk of being evicted from his home.” It further describes Rourke’s financial challenges, noting that despite his legacy as an icon, “fame does not protect against hardship” and “talent does not guarantee stability.”

Rourke signed a lease for the Los Angeles property in March, with monthly rent initially set at $5,200 and later increased to $7,000. The home has historical significance, having been occupied in the 1940s by novelist Raymond Chandler, author of “The Big Sleep.”

Rourke became a major Hollywood figure in the 1980s with roles in films such as “Diner” and “Rumble Fish,” later pursuing professional boxing before returning to film. His recent removal from “Celebrity Big Brother U.K.” followed repeated incidents involving inappropriate language and behavior, including remarks about the sexuality of fellow contestant JoJo Siwa.
