Jimmy Kimmel’s ‘Late Night’ Show Secured

Title: Jimmy Kimmel’s ABC Late-Night Deal Ignites Controversy Amid Political Tensions

In a decision that has drawn significant attention, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” will return to the airwaves after being suspended for two days over political remarks.

The show had been suspended indefinitely following an incident on September 22. During a monologue, Jimmy Kimmel referred to supporters of President Donald Trump as members of the “MAGA gang,” sparking backlash from affiliates and criticism from FCC Chair Brendan Carr, who deemed the comments “truly sick.”

Despite facing pressure from two major ABC affiliate groups — Nexstar Media Group and Sinclair Broadcast Group — which preempted episodes in response to Kimmel’s remarks, ABC announced on September 26 that they would extend his contract for another year.

Entertainment industry observers suggest this move underscores ABC’s commitment to retaining a strong late-night presence despite concerns raised by the political sensitivity of the program. The network appears set on keeping Kimmel as part of its lineup as it navigates ongoing debates over political content in primetime television.

Kimmel, known for his sharp critiques against Trump throughout the latter’s presidency, remains a fixture at ABC News Night.
