House Democrats Press Prince Andrew Over Epstein Ties in New Inquiry

House Democrats on the Oversight Committee have requested Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, brother of King Charles III, to participate in a transcribed interview as part of an investigation into the criminal network of late Jeffrey Epstein. The Washington Post reported that Rep. Robert Garcia, D-Calif., the committee’s ranking member, sent a letter urging Windsor’s cooperation to “understand the full extent of Mr. Epstein’s criminal operations.” Thirteen other Democrats co-signed the appeal, asking Windsor to respond by Nov. 20.

The request is not legally binding and does not carry authority to compel testimony from foreign nationals. Garcia, who lacks subpoena power, emphasized the panel’s intent to uncover accountability. Windsor, stripped of royal titles and now a private citizen, has denied any wrongdoing linked to Epstein. Republicans on the committee, including Chair James Comer, R-Ky., did not join the letter, with a GOP spokesperson dismissing it as “headline-chasing” and lacking Committee authority.

Democrats have previously released documents through subpoenas, including a sketch signed “Donald” tied to Epstein’s 50th birthday, which critics linked to former President Donald Trump. Trump has denied any connection. Garcia stated, “Rich and powerful men have evaded justice for far too long,” urging Windsor to “come clean and provide justice for the survivors.”

Windsor’s association with Epstein has drawn scrutiny since Virginia Giuffre, who accused Epstein of trafficking her as a teenager, alleged she was forced to have sex with him multiple times. Her 2025 memoir, Nobody’s Girl, renewed focus on the case, prompting King Charles III to strip Windsor of his “prince” title and remove him from Royal Lodge. Windsor settled Giuffre’s 2022 civil lawsuit without admitting liability, claiming he does not recall meeting her and ended ties with Epstein in 2010.

The committee’s broader inquiry continues seeking documents from the Justice Department and Epstein’s estate. Some materials, including his address book and a 2007 nonprosecution agreement, have been released. Giuffre died by suicide in April 2025 at age 41, shortly before her memoir’s release.
