Government Shutdown: A Necessary Reset for American Freedom?

If a government shuts down in the forest and nobody useful is affected, should anyone care? A government shutdown mirrors the French approach to strikes. Republicans and Democrats are locked in blame over the 2025 closure of government. Bolder and smarter Republicans would claim full credit for such an action. The argument must be made that shutting down government is beneficial. Americans need to understand why keeping it open is detrimental.

Recall the sitcom “Married, With Children” episode where Peggy Bundy went on strike. She failed because she neglected the basics of effective strikes—something must exist to cease, and it must hold value. A wastrel’s strike harms society. This underscores policy debates: liberals advocate for larger government, while conservatives push for reduced interference. It makes sense for liberals to favor expansion, as government represents power, which many in politics revere.

Liberal waste includes spending billions on climate initiatives and flawed social programs designed to secure votes. Fraud involves funneling money through shell corporations, with immigration fraud aiding Democratic voter bases. Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and critical race theory (CRT) empower individuals to exploit others. Government abuse has escalated under Democratic leadership, with agencies targeting Republicans. The Biden administration pressured corporations to censor conservative voices and restrict bank accounts for conservatives.

Public schools have taught children America is racist, leading to declining academic performance and patriotism. Liberal groups like Antifa and Black Lives Matter, funded by wealthy donors, promoted social unrest. Violence has surged when the left gains power, as seen in the 2024 shooting of Rep. Steve Scalise and other incidents targeting conservatives.

A government shutdown allows small businesses to operate free from regulations, halts tax increases, and prevents harassment of religious institutions. While some rely on government benefits, millions of non-essential workers could be replaced by skilled professionals in sectors like farming and construction. The private sector demands results, unlike government, which often rewards inefficiency.

Social Security and military pay will continue, but the focus should shift to shrinking bureaucracy. America’s reliance on expansive government has failed. The solution lies in drastically reducing its size or shutting it down entirely.
