An FBI agent involved in investigations targeting former President Donald Trump’s post-2020 election activities has been removed from his role by FBI Director Kash Patel, according to two sources who spoke with MSNBC.

Aaron Tapp, a 22-year veteran of the bureau specializing in fraud, financial, and cybercrimes, was identified in recent Senate Republican documents related to “Arctic Frost,” an FBI probe into actions taken by Trump and his team after the 2020 election. The investigation faced scrutiny as Democrats leveraged post-Jan. 6 efforts to charge Trump with conspiracy and fraud, though those charges were later dismissed.

The released documents revealed that 45 individuals closely tied to Trump were flagged for potential inquiry under Arctic Frost, with investigators requesting $16,000 in travel funds for over 40 interviews. Additionally, 111 figures within Trump’s broader political network, including former adviser Steve Bannon and attorneys John Eastman and Jeffrey Clark, were scrutinized.

Tapp’s dismissal followed the public release of FBI internal records tied to Arctic Frost, including 197 subpoenas naming several Congress members. The Oversight Project, an X account, has also targeted individuals connected to the probe, including Tapp.

Sam Barron, a journalist with nearly two decades of experience covering politics, crime, and business, reported the findings.
