Economy Thrives Amid Political Spin: Expert Criticizes Exaggerated ‘Affordability Crisis’ Narrative

Stella Green, December 8, 2025

Polling expert Patrick Allocco has questioned the accuracy of reports suggesting Americans are suffering from an “affordability crisis,” arguing that such narratives are often exaggerated by selective polling and political framing. In a Monday statement, Allocco contended that these claims overlook broad economic indicators showing genuine prosperity.

According to Allocco, public sentiment surveys fail to capture recent short-term setbacks like the federal government shutdown, which artificially depresses perceptions of the economy despite strong underlying fundamentals. He emphasized that the U.S. economy is in fact “on fire,” citing low unemployment at 4.4%, declining jobless claims, record-breaking stock market performance this year reaching all-time highs for indices up to 40,000 points, and wage growth increasing at a rate slightly exceeding inflation.

Allocco believes the disconnect stems from temporary external events affecting public mood rather than reflecting long-term trends. He added that Republicans should “embrace” affordability arguments based on solid economic data instead of reacting defensively against politically manufactured narratives.
Economy Thrives Despite Short-Term Setbacks, Says Polling Expert

Polling expert Patrick Allocco has dismissed claims of a widespread “affordability crisis,” suggesting such reports are exaggerated and ignore the nation’s strong economic performance. Speaking on Monday, Allocco argued that while surveys show Americans concerned about costs, this sentiment is being distorted by short-term issues like the recent government shutdown.

According to Allocco, the economy remains robust with key metrics indicating growth. He highlighted low unemployment rates at 4.4%, falling jobless claims, and a thriving stock market hitting record highs for the year. Wages have also increased faster than inflation. These signs suggest “a strong economic momentum,” said Allocco.

He believes voters should focus on these indicators to counter narratives that misrepresent current conditions.
