DNA Clue from Glove Near Missing Tucson Mother’s Home Points to Unknown Male

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos stated on Tuesday that DNA recovered from a glove found near Nancy Guthrie’s home in Tucson did not match any profiles in the FBI-managed Combined DNA Index System (CODIS), which contains over 19 million offender records.

Additional DNA evidence was discovered at the residence and is undergoing further analysis, according to the sheriff’s office. The department clarified that DNA from the set of gloves recovered two miles away failed to trigger a match in CODIS and did not align with DNA samples collected at the property.

Nancy Guthrie, mother of “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie, has been missing since February 1. Preliminary testing indicated the glove matched DNA of an unknown male. The evidence also correlated with gloves visible in photographs and video footage of a masked individual captured by a doorbell camera at the Guthrie home.

Investigators are collaborating with the manufacturer to locate Nancy Guthrie’s pacemaker and tracing the purchase location of a backpack identified in the doorbell video to identify the masked subject. Approximately 16 gloves were found near the residence, though most belonged to searchers who discarded them during their operations in the area.

Sheriff Nanos confirmed evidence gathered through two search warrants executed last week is being reviewed. All individuals detained for questioning have been released, and no arrests have been made. Investigators are also canvassing gun shops by showing the doorbell video to determine if the suspect appears familiar.
