Ciattarelli Condemns Sherrill’s Desperate Move as Obama Campaigns in New Jersey

New Jersey Republican gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli criticized Democrat Mikie Sherrill’s decision to bring former President Barack Obama onto the campaign trail in the final days before Tuesday’s election, calling it “another desperate tactic by a desperate campaign on behalf of a desperate candidate.”

Appearing on “Rob Schmitt Tonight,” Ciattarelli stated that Sherrill’s campaign is struggling even among key Democrat constituencies. “They’re in serious trouble, Rob, including with Black New Jerseyans all across the state,” he said. “They had to move the venue on that one because the turnout was so low.”

Ciattarelli highlighted strong grassroots support across the state, noting his campaign is receiving “a really positive and overwhelmingly positive response” in minority communities traditionally seen as Democratic strongholds.

The Sherrill campaign’s decision to involve Obama, who recently rallied in Newark for a get-out-the-vote event, comes amid tight polling and early voting data showing declining Democrat enthusiasm compared to 2021 levels.

According to the New Jersey Globe, Republican participation in early voting has surged, narrowing the party’s traditional advantage as Election Day approaches. A Monmouth University poll released Monday showed Sherrill’s lead within the margin of error, indicating a tightly contested race in its final stretch.

“We like what we see in our minority communities,” Ciattarelli told Schmitt. “Every time I’ve been there, the response has been overwhelmingly positive.”
