Charlie Sheen Confronts Past Mistake: 20-Year-Old Apology for Harsh Words Toward Dax Shepard Ella Thomas, October 7, 2025 By Zoe Papadakis | Tuesday, 07 October 2025 12:55 PM EDT Charlie Sheen has publicly expressed regret for a contentious remark made two decades ago toward fellow actor Dax Shepard. The 60-year-old star shared the revelation during an Oct. 6 episode of Shepard’s “Armchair Expert” podcast, admitting he had been disrespectful in a past encounter. “I was a [expletive] to you one night. Not cool,” Sheen said, acknowledging his long-standing remorse. Shepard, 50, responded with surprise, stating, “Tell me, because it’s so bizarre. I don’t remember that.” Sheen recounted the incident occurred around Halloween when the pair discussed the challenges of celebrating the holiday with young children. He described feeling frustrated during the conversation, venting about the difficulties of managing festivities with small kids. “I was kind of in a pissy mood… I was bitching about Halloween and just zero gratitude about anything,” he said. According to Sheen, Shepard had shared a more positive experience that year, which prompted his unkind comment. “He was like, ‘Yeah, no, we had a great time. Went to a couple of parties this time,’ and you were like giving the fun version of Halloween,” Sheen recalled. “In the middle, I said, ‘Try it with [expletive] kids, dude.’ And it was so inappropriate and unnecessary.” Sheen emphasized the regret he carried for over two decades, stating, “So 20 years later, apologies.” Shepard acknowledged the weight of such moments, noting, “You’ve built up a lot of it in your mind — that isn’t really there. It’s just you’re holding it. They weren’t.” The apology followed Sheen’s recent candid discussion on “60 Minutes” about his past struggles with addiction, including how a Mexican drug cartel once cut him off from supplies, mistakenly believing he was trafficking drugs rather than using them. The remarks were part of promotions for his memoir and Netflix documentary. Entertainment
