Border Patrol Official Hails Louisiana Cooperation in Criminal Alien Arrests

Stella Green, December 8, 2025

A federal immigration agent has praised state cooperation during an operation targeting illegal immigrants with criminal backgrounds.

Gregory Bovino, the Border Patrol’s special agent in charge of Operation Catahoula Crunch at a New Orleans sector, stated that Louisiana provides “strongest support” for such efforts.

Bovino emphasized that while other areas face challenges like protests and harassment, his team has received unparalleled backing from state authorities.

The operation targets criminal illegal aliens – individuals with outstanding warrants or prior convictions who are in the United States illegally.

In New Orleans specifically, federal agents have conducted large-scale operations focusing on apprehending such individuals.
Title: Border Patrol Official Commends Louisiana Cooperation

A top official for U.S. Border Patrol has lauded Louisiana’s strong collaboration in targeting criminal illegal immigrants as part of Operation Catahoula Crunch.

Gregory Bovino, the agent in charge at New Orleans Sector, said on Monday that state and local law enforcement there have made it much easier to apprehend undocumented individuals with criminal histories.

While noting challenges faced by federal officers elsewhere, Bovino specifically called out Louisiana for its cooperation. He highlighted a notable example: an operation led to the arrest of a man with a prior conviction for sexual assault using a weapon who had been released from prison after serving 20 years.

Bovino’s comments underscored how effective collaboration has yielded tangible results in New Orleans, which is part of the “Big Hard” region. He stated that following this operation, there has not been one reported incident against Border Patrol agents or related to assaults, vehicles, or other threats within the area.

The initiative comes as federal authorities expand their enforcement actions into major cities.
