Protests at UC Berkeley Event Lead to Arrests and DOJ Investigation

Stella Green, November 15, 2025

At least three individuals were arrested during protests at a Turning Point USA event at UC Berkeley on Monday, with fights breaking out and demonstrators chanting “No Trump, No KKK, no fascist USA” and “Fk your dead homie,” according to local outlet Berkeleyside. The Department of Justice (DOJ) is investigating the UC system over allegations of antifa involvement, with Attorney General Pam Bondi stating that “Antifa is an existential threat to our nation.”

The DOJ’s Civil Rights Division, led by Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon, confirmed it would investigate violent incidents involving “assaulting citizens and students attending events” and intimidating speakers from campus. Dhillon emphasized the importance of addressing such actions, noting that she had already discussed the matter with President Donald Trump.

The protests occurred one month after founder Charlie Kirk was assassinated at an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on Sept. 10. Police identified 22-year-old Tyler Robinson in connection with the slaying, with prosecutors filing a capital murder charge and seeking the death penalty.

Comedian Rob Schneider, who spoke at the Berkeley event, plans to sue the school over its handling of the protests. The DOJ’s Joint Terrorism Task Force is conducting a full investigation into the violence at UC Berkeley, with officials urging other universities to take action against campus unrest.
