Trump Administration Unveils Controversial Dietary Guidelines Amid Health Crisis

The Trump administration is planning to release dietary guidelines in December aimed at addressing rising obesity rates and health issues in the United States, according to Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

“We’re about to release dietary guidelines that are going to change the food culture in this country,” Kennedy stated at a White House event. The guidelines, originally scheduled for late October, were delayed due to the government shutdown, prompting HHS and the Department of Agriculture to set December as the new release date.

Kennedy emphasized that the updated guidelines align with his “Make America Healthy Again” initiative, focusing on reshaping federal food policy. The revisions, issued every five years, will influence school meal programs and federal nutrition policies.

Kennedy has criticized poor dietary habits as a primary cause of declining public health, pledging to prioritize whole foods, including increased consumption of saturated fats from dairy and meat products. His remarks coincided with President Donald Trump’s announcement of a deal with drugmakers Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk to expand access to obesity medications Zepbound and Wegovy.
