Julia Fox’s Halloween Costume Sparks National Outrage

Ella Thomas, November 3, 2025

Actor Julia Fox has drawn widespread criticism for her decision to dress as Jacqueline Kennedy for Halloween, framing her choice as a “statement” rather than a costume. The “Uncut Gems” star attended a New York City event on October 30 wearing a replica of the former first lady’s pink Chanel-style suit, stained with fake blood to mimic the attire Jackie Kennedy wore during President John F. Kennedy’s assassination in 1963.

Fox defended her look in an Instagram post, writing, “I’m dressed as Jackie Kennedy in the pink suit. Not as a costume, but as a statement.” She described the outfit as a commentary on the “tension between beauty and grief,” highlighting the haunting contrast of the blood-splattered garment. Fox praised Jacqueline Kennedy’s decision to remain in the stained suit after her husband’s death, calling it an act of “extraordinary bravery” that combined “performance, protest, and mourning.”

The outfit ignited backlash online, with critics accusing Fox of exploiting a national tragedy for attention. Jack Schlossberg, grandson of John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy, condemned her choice on social media, calling it “disgusting, desperate, and dangerous.” He noted that the real suit, preserved in the National Archives until 2103, symbolizes a deeply personal moment of loss.

Fox’s appearance at the event included a lighter take on the look, joking about being “Jackie O Nasty” and a “bloody diva single mom.” The controversy underscores the sensitivity surrounding historical tragedies and their representation in public spaces.
