Warner Urges Trump’s Immediate Involvement to End Government Shutdown

Senator Mark Warner emphasized that President Donald Trump must take active steps to resolve the ongoing government shutdown, stating Americans are “very angry at this president.” The Virginia Democrat told CBS News’ “Face the Nation” that the crisis cannot be ended without Trump’s direct involvement. Warner argued that bipartisan discussions have stalled because Republican colleagues require his approval to move forward.

Warner reiterated that Trump “has spent enough time going out there now trying to audition for a Nobel Prize, running around the world. Come back and put America first. Sit down and let’s get this resolved.” He criticized Trump for neglecting the shutdown despite previously asserting a president’s duty to end such crises. Warner called on Trump to prioritize domestic issues, including addressing healthcare shortages, and “get this resolved this week” to restore normalcy.
