Congressman Ogles Urges Immediate Legislative Action to End Birth Tourism After Supreme Court Ruling

Congressman Andy Ogles, a Republican from Tennessee, stated on Wednesday that Congress must pass legislation ending birth tourism following the Supreme Court’s ruling on the birthright citizenship clause of the 14th Amendment. Ogles said he has already proposed legislation that he believes would do just that.

“I predicted that the Supreme Court ruling wouldn’t go our way,” Ogles said in an interview, adding, “We had this legislation ready to go.”

Ogles said many people from China come to the U.S. territory of Guam to give birth so their child can become an American citizen.

“You literally have someone whose child is a Communist Party member who would be eligible to run for president of the United States of America,” Ogles said. “Think about that for a moment.”

“I promise you, our Founding Fathers never contemplated someone from a nation who hated us would be president of this great country,” Ogles added.

The Tennessee congressman said that, in order for the law to be enacted, “Congress needs to do its freaking job.”

“Get back to D.C. We’re going to stay late. We’re going to work weekends, no more vacations,” Ogles said.

“And oh, by the way, John Thune in the United States Senate, that includes you,” Ogles said.

“You have a mandate from the American people.
Over 80% of Americans want the SAVE America Act,” Ogles added.

“You have no excuse not to do it. You shouldn’t get another break. You shouldn’t get to go home early.”

“No more vacations. We have a job to do. It’s our 250th anniversary.
The best present we can give to the American people is doing our jobs,” Ogles continued.

“Which means ending birth tourism, ending this whole idea of anchor babies. And quite frankly, the Senate needs to be along for this,” he said.
