Trump’s G7 Summit Targets Iran Deal Amid Pressure for Ukraine Peace

President Trump attended a morning meeting at the G7 summit on Wednesday. The three-day gathering of leaders from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Britain and the United States has focused on the U.S. efforts to conclude its deal with Iran and pressure Russia into brokering peace in Ukraine.

In an interview conducted by Sid Dinerstein with Amir Fakhravar, a professor at Texas State University and American citizen who writes books on Iran and constitutions, the discussion centered on Iran’s current situation and future prospects. Fakhravar stated that President Trump is “playing with” Iranian negotiators by dangling possibilities of sanctions relief, unfrozen bank accounts, and economic rebuilding to keep them engaged.

The interviewee highlighted that nearly 90 million Iranians oppose the current regime, which he described as an Islamic dictatorship. He noted that Christianity is spreading faster in Iran than anywhere else globally and cited a 300% inflation rate and 50% unemployment rate as indicators of economic collapse under the regime. Fakhravar argued that real regime change is inevitable and that Trump’s negotiation tactics are a form of stalling that further impoverishes the current government. He emphasized that Iran’s constitution includes the word “God,” which he believes ties national success to divine will, in contrast to the U.S. Constitution that does not reference religion but emphasizes free will.

The interviewee also noted that negotiations with religious extremists are futile due to their unchanging goals, including calls for the deaths of Americans and Israelis. Sid Dinerstein is a former chairman of the Palm Beach County, Florida Republican Party.
