Homan Warns of ‘Bloodshed’ as Leftist Rhetoric Targets ICE Agents

Stella Green, February 19, 2026

White House border czar Tom Homan warned Thursday that inflammatory rhetoric from leftist commentators—including calls for “Nuremberg trials” to hold Trump administration officials accountable for enforcing federal immigration laws—fuels violence against federal immigration officers.

Speaking on “Greg Kelly Reports,” Homan described the language as “hateful rhetoric” that inflames a segment of the left seeking excuses to attack Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. He emphasized such comparisons between ICE and Nazi regimes or secret police embolden unstable individuals to act violently against federal law enforcement.

Homan cited recent incidents, including shootings in Texas where detainees died and an assault on an ICE officer in Minnesota, as evidence of the dangerous consequences of this rhetoric. “I said back in March, if the rhetoric doesn’t stop—the hateful rhetoric comparing ICE and Nazis and secret police—there will be bloodshed. And unfortunately, I’ve been right,” he stated.

The border czar noted that when lawmakers or public figures liken ICE to historical oppressors, it creates a sense of justification for aggression. “When you hear a congressman or senator or mayor or governor compare ICE to Nazis, they feel emboldened to do stupid things,” Homan added.

His remarks come amid national debates over federal immigration enforcement following Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s description of ICE as the “modern-day Gestapo” and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey’s calls for federal agents to leave the city rather than urging residents to respect law enforcement.
