Trump’s Threat Looms as U.S. Builds Military Readiness Against Iran

Stella Green, February 19, 2026

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee stated Thursday that President Donald Trump is “not bluffing” regarding potential military action against Iran if Tehran fails to abandon its nuclear program, and the United States is assembling significant military assets and resources.

Huckabee said either there will be a substantial response or Iran will choose to give up its nuclear ambitions. He warned that the window for diplomatic compliance with U.S. demands is rapidly narrowing. “Let’s hope that’s what they do,” he added, emphasizing his preference for a peaceful resolution while acknowledging the gravity of the situation.

The ambassador detailed the scale of U.S. military deployment in the region: “The amount of resources that the U.S. has put here, two carrier groups, the Lincoln and the Gerald R. Ford, a significant number of fighters and support planes—we’ve pretty much stacked up everything we have in the Middle East.”

Huckabee characterized Iran as a persistent threat to American security for 47 years, citing the 1979 hostage crisis and claims that Iranian operatives attempted to assassinate President Trump. “Iran for 47 years has been a threat to America,” he said. “They’ve said death to America. … their revolution started by overtaking the U.S. Embassy in Tehran and taking 52 hostages for 444 days.”

He also rejected the notion that Iran’s actions are solely an issue for Israel, stating: “This is an issue for America.” Huckabee added that if military engagement occurs, it would aim to create a realignment in the Middle East and restore peace akin to what has not existed in four decades.
