House Oversight Chair Considers Calling Bill Gates to Testify in Epstein Probe Stella Green, February 5, 2026 House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chair James Comer said Wednesday he is considering calling Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates to testify before the committee’s ongoing investigation into Jeffrey Epstein. Lawmakers from both parties have continued pressing Gates for information related to Epstein. “We’re certainly looking at that, so we’ll have more to come on that,” Comer stated in a Wednesday interview. The committee chair noted he has been approached by multiple Republicans and Democrats who want to question Gates. Comer also plans to review an upcoming NPR interview with Melinda Gates, scheduled for Thursday, to assess whether she provides additional information about her husband’s potential connections to Epstein, the late convicted sex offender. Gates was featured in December releases of Epstein-related documents and faces renewed scrutiny over his ties to the disgraced financier. The latest files include allegations that Gates contracted a sexually transmitted disease from women associated with Epstein. A Gates spokesperson dismissed these claims as “absurd.” In 2021, Gates revealed he held several dinners with Epstein under the understanding that the financier would use his wealth for global health initiatives. When this did not occur, he told PBS NewsHour that he terminated the meetings, calling them “a mistake.” Comer has already issued subpoenas for other individuals linked to Epstein or mentioned in the files, including Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton. Negotiations over testimony terms with both Clintons stretched for months before ending in an agreement to undergo closed-door depositions at month’s end, following threats of contempt of Congress charges.
