Attorney General Pam Bondi has appointed Stuart McCommas to serve as her chief of staff.

McCommas, a lawyer with extensive experience in Republican legal networks, previously served as deputy associate counsel to the president in the White House. His background also includes clerking for federal appellate judge Alice Batchelder of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

In a statement, Bondi expressed that she is “thrilled” by McCommas’s legal expertise and strong leadership in the chief of staff role.

“Stuart has been and will continue to be an invaluable resource as this Department advances its historic mission to implement President Trump’s agenda and ensure safety for Americans,” she added.

McCommas replaces Chad Mizelle, who departed the Department of Justice last year to return to his family in Tampa, Florida. Mizelle stated that he would continue supporting the Trump administration and his efforts to expose what he described as left-wing groups responsible for violent acts across the country.
