Trump Voters Show Strong Support for U.S. Military Strikes on Iran, Mexico, Cuba and Other Countries

A recent Politico poll reveals that a majority of voters who support President Donald Trump favor the use of military force against at least one foreign country, signaling strong alignment with an America First approach among his base.

The survey indicates that 65% of Trump supporters back U.S. military action against at least one target nation, including Iran, Greenland, China, Colombia, Cuba, and Mexico.

Iran received the highest level of support, with approximately half of Trump voters endorsing military strikes there—a figure rising to 61% among respondents identifying as “MAGA Republicans.”

The findings suggest Trump’s core supporters are increasingly receptive to expanded U.S. military engagements, which have included efforts against Venezuela’s leadership and airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

In recent remarks on Truth Social, President Trump warned that a “massive Armada” would be dispatched toward Iran to “rapidly fulfill its mission, with speed and violence” if Tehran refused to negotiate nuclear agreements, asserting that a new attack would be “far worse” than previous strikes.

The poll shows minimal resistance from Trump supporters regarding military interventions.

Amy Walter, national editor of the Cook Political Report, stated: “If you believe the Trump theory that our goal is to do everything we can to protect Americans, and that includes taking out bad people in certain places, then that’s America First.”

Walter noted that Trump supporters appear to distinguish between targeted military actions and prolonged deployments akin to Iraq and Afghanistan. She added: “If he said tomorrow that we’re going to send troops into the Middle East or put boots on the ground in Venezuela, that would break the coalition apart.”

In contrast, Democratic voters demonstrate significantly lower support for military action. Only 18% of supporters of former Vice President Kamala Harris backed U.S. strikes against Iran.

Support among Trump voters varies by target: 21% favor action against Greenland, 32% in Mexico, 30% in Colombia, and 28% in Cuba.

The poll surveyed 2,093 U.S. adults from January 16–19, 2026, with a margin of error of ±2 percentage points.
