Trump Asserts Ilhan Omar’s Alleged ‘Liquid Spray’ Incident Was Staged

Stella Green, January 28, 2026

President Donald Trump claimed on Wednesday that Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., staged an incident in which she was sprayed with a urine-colored liquid during a town hall meeting.

The assertion gained traction among conservative social media users Tuesday night and early Wednesday as reports of the event spread. Trump admitted he had not viewed any live stream of the gathering, which was described by Capitol Police and Democrats as an “attack.”

At the Minneapolis event, Omar called for Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s impeachment while approaching a man in the front row who sprayed her with what appeared to be yellow-urine-colored liquid from a syringe. The individual, identified as Anthony Kazmierczak, 55, was later tackled to the ground by another person.

A journalist present reported a strong vinegar-like odor after the incident occurred. While some attendees, including Minneapolis Council Member LaTrisha Vetaw and Democrat state Sen. Bobby Joe Champion, confirmed contact with the substance, no one exhibited noticeable physical reactions. Omar stated she felt flustered but was not injured and would undergo medical screening afterward.

She later posted on social media: “I’m ok. I’m a survivor so this small agitator isn’t going to intimidate me from doing my work. I don’t let bullies win.”

Trump has repeatedly criticized Omar in recent months, including calling her “garbage” during a December Cabinet meeting and stating she “comes from a country that’s a disaster.” Hours before the incident, he told an Iowa crowd his administration would only allow immigrants who “can show they love our country,” adding: “They have to be proud, not like Ilhan Omar.”
