Rogan Criticizes ‘Gestapo’-Style ICE Tactics in U.S. Immigration Operations

Stella Green, January 13, 2026

Joe Rogan has denounced what he described as militarized immigration enforcement tactics during a recent podcast interview with Sen. Rand Paul.

In the roughly two-and-a-half-hour discussion, Rogan expressed concerns about how Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) conducts operations, particularly those involving individuals who may be U.S. citizens without proper documentation.

“Are we really gonna be the Gestapo? ‘Where’s your papers?’ Is that what we’ve come to?” Rogan said, criticizing the potential for wrongful detentions.

He emphasized that immigration enforcement is more complex than commonly portrayed: “It’s more complicated than anyone wants to admit. People want to look at this as a black-and-white issue, and I don’t think that’s true.”

Sen. Paul countered by accusing Democrats of creating the crisis through non-compliance with immigration laws, stating that the issue involves individuals who have committed crimes such as theft or assault. He specifically referenced Minnesota as a state where ICE conducts enforcement operations.

The interview also addressed the recent death of Renee Good in Minneapolis during an ICE operation after she obstructed agents and refused to exit her vehicle. Rogan called it a “terrible tragedy,” noting: “When people say it’s justifiable because the car hit him, it seemed like she was kind of turning the car away.”

Rogan has consistently maintained an independent stance despite his general support for former President Trump, who appeared on his podcast days before the 2024 election. On Election Day, Rogan publicly endorsed Trump.
