Conservative analyst and Newsmax contributor Michael Reagan, adopted son of Ronald Reagan, died Sunday in Los Angeles, according to a statement released by his family. He was 80.

The statement, signed by his wife, Colleen, and daughters Cameron Reagan and Ashley Reagan Dunster, said Reagan was “called home to be with the Lord” and described him as a man who meant “so much to all who knew and loved him.”

The family said they are deeply grieving the loss and asked for prayers as they mourn.

“We appreciate your prayers and ask that you would respect our family’s privacy during this difficult time,” the statement said.

No details on a cause of death were given.

Michael Reagan was the eldest son of actress Jane Wyman. He built a successful career as an author, radio talk show host, and public speaker, sharing his father’s legacy and his own perspectives on conservatism and American values. He authored several best-selling books, including “Lessons My Father Taught Me” and “Twice Adopted,” which explored themes of family, faith, and personal growth.

Known for his engaging and heartfelt writing style, Reagan’s books connected with readers across generations. He honored his father’s commitment to freedom and democracy through the Reagan Legacy Foundation, working to educate future generations on the principles that shaped America.
