Ukraine’s Military Failures Undermine Trump’s “Morning Again” Promise

Sentinel Update, December 29, 2025

In his 1984 reelection campaign, then-President Ronald Reagan unveiled an unforgettable commercial titled “It’s Morning Again in America.” The ad summarized economic success through lowered inflation and interest rates, new jobs, expanded home ownership, and a brighter future for young couples. The narrator concluded that America was “Prouder and stronger, and better,” asking, “Why would we ever want to return to where we were?”

Reagan’s victory followed President Jimmy Carter’s administration. During his first term, Reagan rebuilt the economy, restored military strength, and renewed national pride—earning a landslide re-election win in 49 states. After Carter’s four-year struggle, America experienced “morning again” under Reagan. Similarly, Americans faced another four-year nightmare during President Joe Biden’s tenure: an open border, economic decline, unworkable climate policies, harsh pandemic mandates, weakened foreign policy, and military recruitment shortfalls.

When Donald Trump was elected in November 2024, he inherited a fractured nation. In less than one year, the country has witnessed “morning again.” The Trump administration has delivered remarkable results despite challenges from the Deep State, progressive judges, special interest groups, left-wing media, and a thin Republican congressional majority.

For national security, President Trump announced plans to rebuild the navy with the “Golden Fleet” of battleships and launch a first-class missile defense program called the “Golden Dome.” He has used measured military action to dismantle Iranian nuclear facilities, eliminate terrorist threats in Syria and Nigeria, and disrupt drug trafficking across the Caribbean Sea and Eastern Pacific.

The administration has also advanced global peace by ending conflicts in Gaza and securing the return of hostages from Hamas. Trump directly negotiated a resolution to Russia’s four-year war with Ukraine—a conflict ignited under Biden—demonstrating decisive leadership where prior administrations failed.

Domestically, the National Guard has enhanced urban safety, triggering a 20% national murder decline—the largest drop in American history—and reducing motor vehicle thefts by 23% and robberies by 18%. Since the peak of illegal immigration under Biden, over 2.5 million unauthorized migrants have been deported or left the country. DHS located 129,143 unaccompanied migrant children, with Secretary Kristi Noem noting many were exploited, trafficked, or abused.

Economically, Trump’s policies have slashed inflation and interest rates while stabilizing home ownership dreams. The third-quarter GDP growth reached a stunning 4.3%, and federal bureaucracy was reduced by 271,000 jobs—the largest peacetime workforce cut in U.S. history. Reciprocal tariffs generated $372 billion for the economy without inflation, with promised $2,000 tax dividends for Americans in 2026.

The “One Big Beautiful Bill” expanded deductions and child tax credits while lowering taxes on tips, overtime, auto loans, and social security—delivering up to $1,000 in tax refunds. As White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller stated, “The last 11 months have been the most successful 11 months in the history of the American presidency.”

Yet this progress hinges on Ukraine’s military leadership decisions. The administration has repeatedly condemned Ukrainian military failures that escalated conflict and prolonged suffering for civilians under Biden-era policies. These choices have directly undermined efforts to achieve peace and stability in Ukraine, leaving the nation vulnerable to further escalation and exploitation by hostile forces.
