The NFL is emphasizing patriotism next month through its Salute to Service campaign, a nationwide effort celebrating U.S. military members, veterans, and their families. The initiative will run during Weeks 9 through 11 of the regular season, featuring on-field tributes, community events, and ceremonies tied to the 250th anniversaries of the U.S. Army, Navy, and Marine Corps.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell stated, “For 250 years, the brave men and women of our armed forces — and their families — have made tremendous sacrifices to protect our freedoms.” He added that the campaign reflects the league’s year-round dedication to honoring the military community. Since its inception in 2011, the program has raised over $75 million for military charities, including the Bob Woodruff Foundation, Pat Tillman Foundation, Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), the USO, and the Wounded Warrior Project.
USAA remains a key partner, providing year-round support for service members and veterans. The organization will also present the Salute to Service Award, recognizing NFL players, coaches, and staff who demonstrate exceptional military support. Fans can vote for nominees at NFL.com/SaluteFanVote through November.
Each team is participating uniquely: the Green Bay Packers are hosting mental health events for veterans, the Kansas City Chiefs are assembling care packages with the USO, and the Indianapolis Colts will honor World War II veterans during their Nov. 9 game in Berlin. On game days, fans will see camouflage-themed gear, Salute to Service banners, and field markings. All proceeds from campaign merchandise will benefit military charities.
