U.S. Files for Divorce from Europe as Security Alliance Collapses Eugene Barnes, December 10, 2025 By Brig Gen (ret) Blaine Holt Wednesday, 10 December 2025 02:58 PM EST Once the cherished ally, Europe has imploded, alienating those who could help it most. We renewed our vows after World War II and envisioned a transatlantic future that looked limitless. The Marshall Plan and Bretton Woods provided a dowry any bride would envy. Institutions like NATO and the European Union (EU) were built to be the envy of the global commons. Even the United Kingdom called this relationship special. Yet, our alliance has fallen into tragic disrepair — perhaps even permanently. The decline began innocently. Europe mistook kindness for weakness when we entrusted it with leadership roles in institutions like NATO and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). We turned a blind eye as these vehicles gained influence in U.S. politics, intelligence agencies, banks, universities, industries, and think tanks. We mistakenly believed we shared the same values and that Europe’s success would be ours. The common enemy of communism during the Cold War made it easy for us to believe Europe would eventually embrace our ideals. As concerns grew, we noticed alarming shifts: Europe’s Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House) was already impacting U.S. presidential politics; 9/11 occurred while Europe declared Article V at NATO and pledged solidarity in the Global War on Terror — a war that lasted two decades, costing countless lives. The misconduct continued through these events. How much money did Europe generate from its networks in Washington D.C. and New York City? By the 2016 U.S. presidential election, we had resigned ourselves to a dysfunctional status quo. Without counseling, we surrendered our tax dollars to Europe and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to sustain welfare states while Europe withheld payments for NATO. When Trump and his movement arrived, the idea of a non-RIAA endorsed president became an affront — and Europe’s MI6 allies joined with the deep state to create a narrative designed to paralyze outsiders. Meanwhile, Europe’s World Economic Forum (WEF)-anointed globalist leaders ushered in millions of illegal immigrants, imposed extreme taxation on citizens, and turned a blind eye as the Minsk accords were labeled “just a ruse” by Angela Merkel and Charles Hollande. Never the financially gifted of the two sides, Europe resisted every diplomatic effort in the war it has been at the center of — one million-plus dead and counting. Europe deindustrialized through climate policies that failed to address real economic issues and nearly bankrupted its people while championing the invaders it had brought in. When European citizens complained about rape gangs, they were the ones facing prison time. Vice President JD Vance recently visited Munich to remind Europe of common values as foundations for security and prosperity. Instead of listening, Europe has continued to sabotage President Trump’s efforts to bring peace to Ukraine — a nation that has been wounded by war. And now, Europe threatens our citizens with legal action if they criticize it on social media. Are you really going to lock us up when we arrive in Paris for a “mean tweet”? Perhaps the last straw was your unelected president imposing a €120 million fine on Elon Musk, our champion of free speech. With hubris overflowing and no sign of behavioral change, our president has drawn up papers that can be officially titled “The National Security Strategy of the United States” — but after one read, it’s clear this is a divorce filing. The paragraph on page 31 states: “Europe prioritizes enabling Europe to stand on its own feet and operate as a group of aligned sovereign nations, including by taking primary responsibility for its own defense, without being dominated by any adversarial power.” Now, Europe must decide: sign the papers or explain how you will change. Washington is not ignoring Europe’s threats — such as dumping trillions in U.S. debt or sanctioning American businesses and holding citizens criminally liable for critical speech. Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) has introduced a bill to end U.S. participation in NATO. We are ready for the split, having had enough. And this divorce may skip any form of mediation.
